GT500 Car Life Article from '68

Been spending some quality time with my vintage car magazines and noticed an article that is in the July 1968 issue of Car Life.

Titled "A Shelby GT 500 in Europe" it is written and illustrated by Stan Mott.

The car in the article is described as being 427 powered with "two blue stripes over the top" and having Marchals and a 4 speed. The cartoons appear to depict a '68.

Mott rides along with a Claude Baltensberger driving, but it isn't clear if Claude is also the owner.

Any info on this car?

I agree that it is a 68. 68 hood, earlier 68 side markers and 68 Shelby (65 T Bird )tail lights.

It is a comedic drawing, so many liberties are taken all around.

The upper drawing appears to show 1967-like taillights and some sort of nameplate or writing on the right side of decklid spoiler...like a '67.   

In the lower drawing, the driver-side door panel appears to have a door handle more like a '67.

Agreed that the rest looks much more like a '68.

Seems early for owner installed 427 and Le Mans stripes.

Writer could have been mistaken about the engine but it must have had the stripes.

Can't tell if those are cartoon hubcaps or ten spokes 

Story takes place in Switzerland BTW.
